The next generation of leaders within Australia’s cotton industry are encouraged to apply for a premier leadership program. Applications for the 2020 Australian Future Cotton Leaders Program opened today, with 15 spaces available.

The exotic pest fall armyworm (FAW) Spodoptera frugiperda has been detected for the first time in Australia, in the northern Torres Strait and Northern Queensland. CRDC and Cotton Australia are calling for people to be aware of what the pest looks like and be alert to its presence.

Some 35 representatives of the cotton industry attended evokeAG in Melbourne this week, including a cohort of cotton growers who were supported to attend by CRDC.

CRDC has welcomed the Minister for Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management, the Hon. David Littleproud MP, back to the agricultural portfolio, following his appointment by the Prime Minister today.

A national multi-agricultural industry surveillance initiative, iMapPESTS, is developing novel airborne surveillance and diagnostics technologies to speed up detection and reporting of important pests and diseases in cotton growing regions and beyond.

Registrations are now open for the Climate Research Strategy for Primary Industries (CRSPI)'s conference - Climate and Carbon in Agriculture 2020 - supported by CRDC.

Cotton grower Richard Quigley of Trangie has received a 2020 Nuffield Scholarship, with support from the Cotton Research and Development Corporation and Cotton Australia. A profile on Richard appeared in the Queensland Country Life.
