The autumn edition of CRDC's magazine, Spotlight, is out now! This edition takes a look at two innovative new initiatives underway: the research and development corporation collaboration Agricultural Innovation Australia, and the Federal Government’s Business Research and Innovation Initiative.

Near impossible to identify and count with the naked eye, silverleaf whitefly (SLW) has increased in prevalence in the Australian cotton industry in recent years. To make identification easier, researchers from USQ, in collaboration with the QLD DAF, have developed a new artificial intelligence smartphone app with funding from CRDC.

The participants in the latest edition of the Australian cotton industry’s premier leadership initiative – the Australian Future Cotton Leaders Program – have been announced.

Last week, the Minister for Industry, Science and Technology announced the latest round of the government’s Business Research and Innovation Initiative (BRII) grants. The grants included funding for six small/medium businesses under the BRII cotton challenge - to revolutionise agricultural spray application.

The CRDC-led Smarter Irrigation for Profit project is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified consultant/s to conduct a review of broadacre irrigation research, development and extension (RD&E) focused on irrigation automation technology.

In line with CRDC’s goal to improve sustainability, research is underway to better understand and minimise the impact of irrigation infrastructure on fish populations in rivers.

CRDC has released its Annual Report, highlighting the RD&E achievements of the organisation in 2019-20, including the release of the industry's second Australian Cotton Sustainability Report. The story was covered by Farm Online.

CRDC's Annual Report for 2019-20 has today been tabled in Parliament. The report outlines CRDC's investments in RD&E on behalf of cotton growers and the government in the 2019-20 year: the second under the CRDC Strategic RD&E Plan 2018–23.
